The AKC National Owner-Handled Series celebrates the dedication and enthusiasm of owner-handler exhibitors and allows them to compete head-to-head against one another in the conformation ring. The AKC Owner-Handled Series occurs after Best of Breed judging in each breed ring. More than 80% of show dogs are handled by their owners.
“Bridget” was the first show dog for Mary Ellen Carney and Claire Alasio, entirely owner-handled. She took a Terrier Group First from the classes and placed in the Terrier Group several times. Over her career with 1005 OHS points, she had 40 Best Owner-Handled in Breed or Variety wins and 12 Group Firsts.
“Bridget’s” owners call her “our pet that we show.” Now that she is retired from the conformation ring, she is participating in Earthdog and Barn Hunt trials.
