Six Welsh Terriers have won the Westminster Kennel Club Terrier Group: Ch. Fornell Rare-Bit of Twin Ponds, “Rare-Bit,” who went on to win Best In Show in 1944 and was owned by Mrs. Edward P. (“Ernestine “) Alker (Twin Ponds); Ch. Twin Ponds Belle, “Belle,” owned by Mrs. Edward P. Alker, in 1949; Ch. Strathglass Venture’s Lucifer, owned by Hugh J. Chisholm (Strathglass) in 1952; Ch. Strathglass Trim Maid, owned by Strathglass Kennels in 1959; Ch. Anasazi Annie Oakley, “Annie,” owned by Capt. Jean L. Heath, USN (Ret.) (Black Watch), William H. Cosby, Jr., and Frank Bilger (Reglib) in 1986; and Ch. Sunspryte’s Just In Thyme, “Moxie,” owned by Capt. Jean L. Heath, USN (Ret.) (Black Watch), William H. Cosby, Jr., and Beth Bates (Westwyn) in 1999.

Since 1978, the winner of the Terrier Group has been awarded the William Rockefeller Trophy, earned by Ch. Anasazi Annie Oakley and Ch. Sunspryte Just In Thyme.

Ch. Strathglass Trim Maid was put up from the classes by Judge George Hartman in the February Welsh Terrier Club of America Specialty in 1959, and subsequently won the Terrier Group at Westminster two days later. Her progeny included six champions.
